At first I was highly dissapointed in Tom Savini's remake. I thought it was
absolutely horrible. However, the more I watched it, the more I realized that
Night of the Living Dead 1990 is actually a really good movie. I was just turned of
by the change, although some of the changes made were pretty bad.
Barbara became a special forces sniper or something. She picks off zombies from
like a hundred yards away. That's mainly the worst aspect of it. They turned Barbara
into a tough 90's chick.
Besides that, the rest of the movie is done really well. The beginning is the best part,
with the guy with the backwards feet. Speaking of that, the zombies look
really cool. I read somewhere that Savini and the make-up crew actually went to a couple of
morgues to look at the stages of rotting on the corpses, and by gum they did it up real good.
Another of my favorates, was the guy with the nose indented into his face that gets run over
and folded in half. That's the zombie that gets stabbed in the head with the crowbar, shortly before
Ben's pointless "Damn you! Damn all of you!" lines.
Night of the Living Dead 1990 stays sort-of true to the original 1968 masterpiece, but changes just
enough to be considered a different movie and be appreciated as a fine piece of cinematography indeed...
