Tarman's Rating:

From the brain of Tarman
I, Zombie is one of the most depressing zombie movies I have ever seen. Unlike most other zombie movies, this one doesn't focus on a small group being attacked by a large, flesh eating army of the undead. It is a chronicle, or a Chronicle of Pain as the sub-heading reads, of a man named Mark who is infected with a disease that slowly turns him into a zombie.
While collecting fungus deep in the woods one day, Mark comes across a dead body and a woman twitching on the floor. While trying to rescue the woman, she bites him on the neck. Stumbling through the forest, he blacks out and wakes up days later. This is where all the trouble starts.
He notices some slight changes, like small, painless cuts appearing on his body, and , oh yeah, an uncontrollable urge to eat human flesh. He begins to slowly rot away in body and mind. Trying to maintain his humanity becomes harder and harder. He falls into a void of depression, and zombie masturbation. Yup. You heard that right. Each times he looks into the mirror he sees himself rot away more and more.
I, Zombie is an excellent movie and you should check it out. I though it was going suck, but when I was pleasently surprised. It kind of has the same feel as an absolutely amazing non-zombie movie Jacob's Ladder. It's a slowly, but perfectly paced tale with lots of depressing stuff and excessive gore.
