Dawn of the Dead is what all zombie movies should strive to be like. When I was
watching it for the first time, it felt like eight hours, but I was enjoying every minute of it.
I was just so into it. Everything about it it perfect: the plot, the characters, the setting...
Well maybe everthing is going a little too far.
My only complaint is that the blood is the fake neon-pink color. What was Savini thinking?
The blood in Day of the Dead was as real as any blood I've seen, so why couldn't he have at least
semi-real looking blood in this? Eh, it's alright, Tom. All the other effects are really cool. Blood's
not everything. It's still a great movie.
The plot is like an expanded Night of the Living Dead. Instead of being trapped in a small
farmhouse, our group of four runaway survivors, Peter, Roger, Flyboy, and Fran, have an entire mall to themselves...
with a couple of problems. Zombies are swarming everywhere and a group of looting bikers led by Tom Savini
are about to invade. It's a fixer-upper.
This is tied with Night of the Living Dead as the best of the Dead Trilogy, not to
degrade Day of the Dead. For some reason, this is the hardest one to come by though. I always see
Day of the Dead in the movie store, and everyone knows Night of the Living Dead. I knew about
Day of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead way before I found out about this. But when I got a
hold of it, I wasn't dissappointed.
