Wow, this thread has super-longevity...

Bishounen = pretty boys, generally quite feminine, and bishoujo = pretty girls, generally quite feminine :p

shoujo ai is the girl equivalent of shounen ai.  it is mild girl/girl stuff.  yuri is the girl equivalent of yaoi.  it is more than mild girl/girl stuff.

then there's lemon and lime x_x

And yes, there is a severe lack of shoujo ai/yuri. Since Messiah likes it, maybe she knows some... here are a few possibilities, but most of them you probably already know, and in fact i'm not even sure on these.... :/

Shoujo Ai / Yuri
Uuuuuuuuuuutena
Brother, Dear Brother
Sailor Moon
CCS
Love Hina
Legend of Dragoon (game...and I *think* it's a manga. i know it's called Drag...comething.)
Wild Arms (game)
Bubblegum Crisis
Lain
Stainless Night
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna
Rose of Versailles
Miyuki-chan in Wonderland
Read or Die
Dirty Pair

and after that, you're stuck with hentai which is made for boiz.

pocky: i saw this series at otakon this summer, it was only like 4 or 5 episodes, damnit i don't remember.

I don't remember what it was called, it was about the relationship between this boy and his teacher >.< damnit i don't remember it this isgoing to bug me until i find the title *sulks*

edit: ah ha!  i found it.  thank god i kept my old otakon program.  Okay okay there are two series i was wondering if you've seen, they're listed as four different titles, but I think its the same series.

Fish in the Trap aka Equation of the Rotten Teacher:  this yaoi series follows the story of a young man and his second chance with the boy next door.  However, things can be difficult when the young man is the beautiful boy next door's school teacher.

Kussatta Kyoushi no Hoteishiki (literally BaD Teacher's Equation): this is a yaoi comedy about a student and his teachers and classmates.

From what I remember, these shows were really cute, funny, and not all that yaoi, not more than Gravitation is yaoi though.

Now they also showed zetsuai/bronze and cathexis.  I didn't get to see zetsuai/bronze (didn't know about it at the time ;( ) but i did get to see some of cathexis, which is a bunch of music videos to zetsuai/bronze art.  and woah buddy that was definitely some hardcore yaoi there :eek

Ah, nope, she has it right...almost. "Fish in the Trap" is  a movie and "Corrupt Teacher's Equation/Kussatta Kyoushi no Hoteishiki" is another movie.

I missed Fish at the con, but I'm certain some of the other fangirls in my club have seen it or have it. I want to see that and Lesson XXX...and can you believe i haven't yet seen Boku no Sexual Harassment! Argh! I missed that Too Hot For Campus Night (that's when we go off-campus to watch animated gaE pr0n :p)

But I have seen Corrupt and I actually wrote a review of it. Ehh... I'll see if I can find it and post it today.

As if you hadn't had enough...

Zetsuai 1989

Mangaka: Ozaki Minami
Director: ?
Producer: ?
Genre: shóunen ai, angsty drama
Released in America? Not by a long shot.
Format: fansubbed OVA
Rating: B+, or 8 copiously bleeding wounds out of 10

A hot, sickly thin mega-rock star relentlessly stalks his childhood fascination, an über-talented soccer player with a 2x4 on his shoulder, in hopes that he'll let him love him like no boy has ever loved a boy before.

Miyuki-chan's Zetsuai 1989 and Bronze Webpage: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Shrine/3303/z-index.html

Anime Colony: Zetsuai (encompasses Bronze): http://www.scifi.com/anime/anime.cgi?25563

Techno Girls: Zetsuai: http://www.technogirls.org/barbara/anime/shonenai.htm#zetsuai

"Don't touch it! ... Why'd you have to say that!?"

Hands. Blood. And everything Love. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect Ozaki yaoi story. But Mangaka Ozaki accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction...Chemical D! Dun, dun, dun! *BOOM* Thus the Desperate Love Bishies were born! Using their sharp, pointy chins, Koji Nanjo and Izumi Takuto have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of ANGST!

*duh duh duh duh duuuh duh duh* O_O Sorry.

Koji Nanjo, 16 (believe it or not), is a wildly successful pop idol. He's platinum blond, has ice-blue eyes and is all skin and bones. He has women, he has fame...and he has a drinking problem. One night, he's passed out on the sidewalk as usual. Rain is pouring because it's a really angsty, depressing night. A runner comes by and jumps over him. Seconds later, the runner returns. Koji wakes up in a bed in an apartment he's never seen before. Before he can process what happened last night, a young dark-eyed, black-haired man appears. He places his hand on his forehead and asks him what he remembers. His name is Izumi Takuto, a ridiculously talented soccer (football) player. He leaves after chiding Koji for being so reckless, telling him to go whenever he feels better. Here begins our über-angsty story of zetsuai, desper-love.

From that moment on, Koji actively pursues Izumi. He thinks about him every second of every waking hour. Even when he sings – especially when he sings – he doesn't stop wondering where Izumi is, what he's doing... He's so desperate for his attention that he stalks him in his spare time, which he makes by neglecting his work. One day, when he's watching (from far-far away) one of his object-of-longing's games, Izumi faints and is miraculously caught by the singer before he hits the ground. Everyone is astounded that Izumi knows the famous Koji Nanjo. But Izumi doesn't want to know him. He's not interested in Koji's advances, and he tells him so time and time again. But why? Why can't Izu-chan let Ko-koi love him? What's really stopping him (since Koji is so ridiculously attractive and in love with him)? What happened to him so long ago...?

Angst, obsession and rejection are the prime adjectives that come to mind when watching this. It's really almost breathtaking at times. It reminds you of your favorite love story, but only on a totally different level of longing and despair. At first, I thought it was corny that Izumi was a – gasp! – soccer player and here we have a rock star pouting around corners and sneaking behind his back, but even that doesn't matter anymore when you really get into it. You're drawn into this long-suffering desire along with Koji because deep down, we've all been there and done that. Worshiping the ground someone walks on is a part of lust, love and passion. It happens to the best of us. The primal, desperate need to be with someone is magnified a thousand times in the blood shed for the sake of that someone, in this case the ever-reluctant Izumi. Whether or not the dark-haired boy wants him, Koji believes in this love, and he's willing to do anything, to give up everything, to have what he can't have. Even Koji's name, meaning 'orphan', reduces him to a metaphor of loneliness and lovelessness.

In the words of Sade, "this is no ordinary love."

Aside from the heartrending angst, the anime itself is pretty wild. First thing that comes to mind is the animation style, one you simply won't see often if at all. It's sharp and very angular, surreal and ... provocative in that these are two really hot guys. There is just no way that people like this could ever live, and sometimes the animation is a distraction because it's so...impossible. But maybe this is a case like "Ai no Kusabi" where there's an emotion meant to be conjured from it. Perhaps the mangaka wanted to portray the characters as sick and needy, desperate to be fulfilled. She has them stark white many times, when things are intense, giving them an otherworldly appearance, like ghosts. They're beautiful, and scary, in their own highly stylistic way. Oh, and Ozaki has a thing for hands, so if they look like women's hands, know that she was going for beauty and grace, not realistic male physique. This is an ultra-shoujo series. Another signature Ozaki item is blood. The characters bleed (very beautifully, I might add) whenever possible. I suppose you could say that this further emphasizes the pain and suffering and utter angst that goes along with desperation and unrequited love.

Perhaps you're wondering what is lacking in this anime. Purposely humorous moments. There is simply nothing funny in it. No. Thing. If you laugh, you're probably not supposed to. In my case, I laugh at things that are funny in some horrible way, like when the girl almost gets ran over by a truck. "TRUCK! TRUCK! TRUCK!" But heck, lots of otaku would laugh at THAT. ^^;;; But does that take away from the anime – not in the least. It's supposed to be teen angst!

Well, now that I've depressed us all beyond reason, I suggest that you expose yourself to the passionate anxiety! You'll enjoy this intense tale of the lovelorn and pitiful, the cold and lonely, the angsty rock star and angsty athlete.

Did I mention how much angst is in this?

Glossary:

Zetsuai – Japanese, zetsubóteki = desperate, ai = love. So yes, a literal translation might be "desperlove". Ozaki (like a few shóunen ai mangakas) likes to blend words in a Jabberwalkian way to create that needed emotional environment for the reader.

-Koi – Japanese, love (also carp). But here, it's used as a shortened for of koibito, lover, boyfriend or girlfriend. It's used just like –chan, but for...well...lovers.

Anyway, since Panda's such a dork and a wimp, he's too scared to post some of his awesome Kaori Yuki and CLAMP fanart here, I'm gonna post his first one for him. The first steps are the hardest, Panda, dear, the rest will just follow through. So post your stuff, damn it. :grrr :p

here's the picture

Isn't his handwriting perrrty?? It's so much better than mine. I wanna steal it. ^^ Along with his artistic talent. ;_; I remember the Kaori Yuki pic I tried to draw. The wings ended up looking liked melted wax. :sweatdrop

Anyone ever heard of Mirage of Blaze? It's suposed to be a shounen ai/yaoi. I've only seen the first episode so far (there's 13 in total) and it looks pretty good. It kinda resembles X from what I've seen but that might change. If you've seen it I'd be interested in your opinions.

It has the scans for the Gravitation Remixes... if anyone doesn't know what those are, then they're also a little graphic, just a widdle warning. ^^

Okay here's the deal:
1.) you people spam WAAAAY too much
2.)the mod page for deleting certain posts sux.  You can't see the WHOLE post, just the first 20 words or so, so you can't tell if the post will have something important in it.  If in the first 20 words it didn't seem like it would, I deleted it.
3.)the mod page for deleting certain posts sux.  I deleted some I didn't mean to and left some alone I meant to delete.

Still took me over an hour of my damn life, and I want that back.  I gotta go fix up a few more things, then I'll be done.

I'm sorry Pocky if I deleted things that should have stayed.  It was hard to tell what should stay just by reading the first 20 words of posts ;_;

Please limit your stuff in here to questions about the IFC itself, or asking fangurl related questions, like the ones that akiya and I asked.  Thank you.
