So purity's comment in the life thread feels a bit serendipitous for me as my slackery high school class is getting together for a very belated 10 year reunion (14 1/2 years) today. I wasn't planning on going because I really don't care for most of the people I went to school with (perhaps that's harsh, I don't know most of the people I went to school with), but a good friend needs some support, so I offered to tag along for an hour.

Purity's comment got me thinking though, I'd much rather hang out with the people from AN over the years (even the shitty ones who got banned), because I feel closer to most of you than I do to the people I spent 4 years of high school with. I consider you all friends, and at the end of the day I know I'm a much better person just for having known you. Thanks. Smiley

So... has anyone else had a high school reunion (or two) they've been to? Care to offer insight and maybe some pointers?

My ten year reunion was cancelled because of a lack of interest.  I found out after the scheduled date.

You are welcome at my house any day!  Smiley Smiley Smiley We DO have a spare room or two--none of the children have moved back yet.

Never went to any of my reunions, since the people I wanted to be friends with I still keep in contact with even now. The next one to come up for me is the 35 year one (*SIGH) and a) people haven't changed all that much; and B) we all got old and fat and don't care about classmates anymore. I would go with an impish sense of mischief and say really random and off the wall things, especially since you most likely will never see these people again. If that truly is the case, go out in full glory, I say!

 And keep us posted.

I didn't bother with my high school's 10-year reunion.  The 20-year should be coming up in the next year or so, but I doubt I'll have much interest in that either.

I'm due for mine in about a year and a half's time. Sad since I've strictly been in school the whole time while everyone else it seems has had a life. Then again, coming from Bakersfield, CA, all my classmates are fat and with kids.

There was only one person I really wanted to see again, since I managed to stay close with everyone else (she had joined the peace corps after college and we lost touch) and it was really nice to re-connect with her and her son, and her brother was there too with his family. It was a little cliquey, but mostly it was pretty chill. I really only recognized about  5 people, I have no idea who the rest were. Tongue I'm glad I went, but I'll probably never attend another - unless there's a cash giveaway or something.  Angry

That's nice you reconnected with that person. "I have no idea who the rest were" -  Cheesy

I've never gone to a HS reunion, and someone would have to bind and gag me to get me to one. I got along with everybody in HS, but anyone I really cared about I still know all too many years later. Smiley

It looks like some good came of this after all. A few people from my class are trying to put together a scholarship program. I'm still debating whether or not I want to get involved.

I'm with Marka. Anyone I'd care to see these days is still my friend or at least correspond with every once in a while on the Facebookz, so going to a reunion seems like a waste of time. I did get invited to my ten year reunion last month, but meh... went to see Harry Potter instead. Time better spent Cheesy
