I'm looking to get a nintendo DS almost exclusively for the title, "my chinese coach" to aid in my language learning, but I wanted to know what you guys think I should get, as that program will work on both systems.
in terms of games, I like platformers (castlevania, mario) and rpg's (chrono trigger, castlevania). I'm not big on the whole stylus thing, but i might like it, who knows.
some primary questions:
-how have the specs improved between the DSi from the DS Lite?
-should i really be concerned about the lack of backwards compatability to play advance games on the DSi?
I don't get to game to often these days, so i'm looking at this as almost a workhorse tool, mostly for the language program.
thanks.
The program will also work on the original DS, although it is larger and heavier system, (sometimes easier to handle if you have big hands, and may be prone to dropping things) but cheaper than either of the other two options. The only major difference besides the size is the screen only has one light setting whereas the DS lite has 3.
I don't think there's a major difference between the specs of the DS lite and DSi, other than adding the camera (no big deal, most phones have a good camera, and who cares about doodling on pics anyway) and of course no GBA slot (now occasionally I have a few GBA carts I play which aren't released in DS lite format (ult. card games, ult. brain games (yeah, they still haven't released those!)
I would think the original DS would stand up to more abuse than the DS lites esp. the one with the camera, although I haven't tested that theory since I do have both systems... we keep the original as a back up, and it's nice if we have company that wants to use a system, we have an extra one.
