So... I may have been coming down on Bleach a little hard due to the way its been dragging on, and my fear that it may be becoming a dbz/naruto hybrid (using only the bad parts), but the latest chapter (108) and the many reveals in it was pure awesome!

Things are starting to pick up again it the latest chapters.
Aizen and co. are about to sack Karakura, the remaining captains have arrived to fight them, and now we get an origin story for the Visored. Meanwhile, Ichigo is off to get his ass handed to him by Ulquiorra again.
Yeah actually, I was about to start something like a Bleach thread too.  Apparently there are going to be 2 months worth of flashbacks, and I'm all for it.
I'm pumped to see the Viazard (or whatever the official spelling is) in their shinigami days.  Will we see any Isshin Kurosaki?  I hope so, but I doubt it, as Shunsui already says in this chapter the only original captains left are him, Ukitake and Yama. So I think by this point, Isshin has already left the Gotei 13.  It still would've been awesome to see him interact with everyone though in Shinigami land.
I've been wondering... How far ahead is the manga from the Anime (ep.166 Ichigo/Grimmjow battle).

Been trying to avoid spoiling it by reading the recent chapters to find out myself.

It's quite a bit ahead of things. All the battles that have been going on have now played out, and things have shifted back to the human world for a huge battle royale.
I'm wondering if that one Captain with the scarf in the flashback is supposed to be Byakuya's dad maybe?
I'm with you Jeff B!  I was just enjoying the Anime (minus the Bounto arch) so much and knew that I'd blow through the manga too quickly.

Patience is a virtue that only comes in small bursts for me.  Was gonna try to let the story unfold for me via TV, but screw that.  Time for some paper cuts.

for me any manga will always just be more real.  its coming straight from the mind of the creator, his art and his story, not that of some anime studio's.  no embellishments, nothing but what he/she wants you to read.  its always going to be better for me.

thats not to say i don't like anime, manga is just better Cheesy

Most shounen series are created by teams of people working togethor instead of one author.

I've been avoiding this thread because I'm not reading the manga, but I think I need to start. I got into Bleach casually, through a friend of mine who cosplayed as a Soulreaper last Halloween. She loved the series and I thought I'd give it a shot, so I started watching the dub and I LOVE it, but now I'm out of disks, so I think I need to start putting my Borders coupons to good use. :p

Oh boy.....number -97 just came out, and I'm pretty sure it's the end of that mini-arc.

Time to throw down!

Yes, that was definitely the last in the flashback.  I hope we get some major ass kicking now by the Vaizard.
