EvaKodoma -

ur out of ur mind lol, the gods knew grifiths name didnt they. I suspect that skull knight might be as old as the behelit itself, he might of been around the time it was created in his human form and used the behelit on himself and wished for eternal life to help fight the members of the god hand. Zodd... is as you know one of the oldest members of the god hand so maybe he was a friend of skull knight and he used the behelit for evil where as skull knight used it for good and because they are from the same time they naturally fought each other.

There is so many things that it could be but to be honest no oen has an idea and that what makes Berserk as good as it is. Makes you continuously think and think of what it could be.

The appearance of Zodd and Skull knight along with other mysterious characters for a couple of chapters just leaves the person thinking.

I have a question for you all...

there are different behelit colors what are the effects of each one? does anyone know? because if each one has different effects Gutz might just use it on himself but either way i suspect he will die in the end after he has rid the world of the god hand.

Red Behelits denote future members of the God Hand, while every other Behelit, yes, there are many other colors, denote future apostles.

I presented the basis of my theory in the post titled Gatts: The Eternal Champion found elsewhere on this board.

If you are not familiar with Michael Moor****'s Eternal Champion series of books, as fans of Berserk I would be surprised if you didn't like these books as well.  It is based upon a concept called The Multiverse.  Several realms of reality that occupy the same Earth but on different planes of existence.  Sometimes these planes can intersect, causing the same person to interact with different versions of his or her self . Sometimes the same person is reincarnated within the same realm and thus exists at different points in the timeline.  Such a person is The Eternal Champion.

I would not be surprised to see Gatts awaken in a different body, at a different time, yet facing similar problems.  A long lost love...  Betrayed by one held dear...  The loss of an eye and a hand...  All too familiar to fans of the Eternal Champion.

Actually, it doesn't matter what order you read the different series of Eternal Champions books.  The ones about the main three characters cover some of the same events from three different points of view, for instance.  So just pick one, Corum, Elric or Hawkmoon and go from there.  Corum is the one that seems closest to Gatts, though the others have similarities as well.

"Stage right we have Prince Corum, resplendent in his scarlet robe and silver hand. On returning to Castle Erorn, after finding his relatives butchered in other castles, he finds his own family massacred by the Mabden. He has lost his father, mother, sisters, uncle and cousins, all slain by the hand of Glandyth-a-Krae, the wicked villain of the plot. Revenge is the theme of the books, and early in the action Corum is captured by the Mabden and brutally tortured - an eye is burnt out and a hand is hacked off. These are later replaced by another sorcerer, after Corum is saved by a being from another plane. He is given a jewelled eye and a silver hand. When the patch is lifted from the eye, it enables the viewer to see into other planes, and to summon beings and creatures to aid him in battle. The silver hand senses danger before it arrives and is ruthless in slaying, even when Corum does not wish blood to flow." from The Time Centre - Incarnations

(Getting back to the topic)
Personally, I think that the Behelits WOULD have something to do with it. If they can be "used" then Gatts (my favorite spelling) would be able to get at least a *little* stronger.

SPOILERS!!! (Maybe)

Everyone that's read Volume 16+ can correct me on this (since I haven't gotten much farther). Skull Knight seems to know how to get something from the Behelit when we see him... eating one. Also, right before he does that, he said something like "Can a human that follows a path as cruel as this continue to walk it as a human?"

Somehow that seems a little ominous to mah. But like I said, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm new to this posting and actually new to Berserk having just watched the anime about a month ago.   However since then, I have read all I can on post eclipse topics and am learning Japenese (for my job) and hope be starting reading the manga once I get fluent.  Anyways just wanted to comment on this topic.

First, if Gatsu has a red behelit and the bearer is destined to rule the world then it would seem that this would directly conflict with Femto's desire to rule the world.  Thus, either Femto rules and then is defeated by Gatsu or they reconcile and rule together possibly even going against the other members of God Hand.

Second, It is unlikely that Gatsu would have a red behelit and choose not to use it, as a major theme is how man's destiny is preordained and so not using it would sort of go against this.  So it is likely that Gatsu at some point perhaps after being defeated by Griffith and at the point of death would use the powers and become a member of God Hand possibly even sacrificing Caska.  After becoming a member, he may then break with the destiny thread and reaffirm that man controls his own destiny and fight God Hand possibly with the help of another god as from my understanding Idea is the only god presented so far.

Anyways, just my thoughts but I think however it ends, Gatsu will in some way use the behelit and possibly betray someone close to him but do so with the hope of eventually destroying God Hand and possibly salvaging the humanity left in Griffith who may then assist in fighting God Hand.  I think before the series ends, the whole destiny cannot be changed will be turned on its head and while I think Griffith and Gatsu will certainly fight some more, for some reason I doubt it will end with both or either one of their deaths but with some sort of twisted reconciliation.  Then again, I could be completely off base.

I think that Skull knight knows something that we dont and maybe as the story goes on Skull knight will reveal himself and explain the behelit more some and its past.

After the eclipse while gatsu is first attacked by the "nightdemons" the skullknight says: " i found you ... you are truly the light that shines in the darkness" ( as long my translation is corret ). So Gatsu has to be someone long awaited by him, maybe some chosen one.
From this point of view the winner of the ultimate battle has to be guts. Since he is the light and the hands of god are as they claim after the rescue of Gatsu the darkness. Metaphorically examined light is always stronger than the darkness. Darkness can not go to where light is but light can go in the darkness at let the darkness vanish
