Another quick question I just thought of.  My tv supports 1080i out the box, does that not mean the 360 will still use it's scaler when set to 1080i?

Set the TV to 720P and the xbox to 1080i.  That will solve it all.

If the TV has auto detect and is defaulting to 1080i, shut it off and manually make the correction.

Let me know if you hit any snags.

Werd.

I can't change the res on my tv.  When I change my 360 to 1080i, my tv recognizes it and shows 1080i.

Horray for debt!

Barely needed to calibrate it, the color was great.  And I got 100 off from a friend.

I do.  Even though it's upgrading from a 32" it's pretty damn big to me.  I'm still debating how I feel about the Motion Enhancer.  I turn it on for some games and it looks great, while some don't need it.  And I kind of compare with movies but generally turn it off because that's not how it would look in a theatre.  It's good for some games though.

I hate 120hz unless it is for fast moving stuff (some games, and sports).  IMO, to use it on film based sources is a SIN.

Help me Wired1, you're my only hope.

I have a SONY BRAVIA KDL-XBR6 and Have a few items hooked up through it. A 360 through hdmi, cable box through component, and ps3 through hdmi as well.

I bought a blu-ray player standalone before I bought the ps3 and had it hooked up and sharing the hdmi cable with the 360. One day I turned it off for a while and when I started it back up no audio would play. (I don't have 5.1 yet but use the tv speakers). I thought it was defective so I returned it and got a ps3 instead. I hook that up through a separate hdmi cable on another port in the back and it is working fine. then one day I start it up and there's no sound.

So what I did was switch to the input that has my 360 on it and start it up to see if I hear sound, and I hear it fine. When I switch back to my ps3 I can then hear it. So in order to fix it, I have to go to the 360 input and have the audio play through the speakers, than go back to the ps3. The audio isn't cutting off consistently but intermittently and only when It's from startup, not during game or movie play.

I managed to fix it also by doing the reset thing on the ps3 where you hold the button down until it beeps twice, that fixed it when it reset the hdmi settings, though I have a feeling it will occur again.

Any idea what this strange issue could be.

This is a very typical HDMI problem from what I can gather from your info.  It is known as a "handshake" issue; basically, the HDMI sound fails b/c the two devices, in this case the TV and blu ray player, can not "shake hands" and meet.

I have a PS3 and it happens all the time.  I will start a movie up, and then after the previews, FBI stuff, etc. it will go to the main menu but  no sound.  My solution was to switch inputs on my receiver, then switch back, allowing the PS3 the chance to shake hands once again.  When it does happen, this always works.

I wouldn't go as drastic as yanking cables and such on your setup, but try instead to switch the TV's video input (cycle through them back to the correct one) next time this happens, and see if that remedies it.

Good luck and let me know!

I've had the same issue, as well.  Cycling through all of my input sources always fixes the issue for me.

I think it's an issue with stereo and hdmi through sources like blu-ray players or something.
