When People Say Favorite Manga...

People start Threads that say favorite manga and then people post their replies with Manga that hasn't been domesticated yet at least in the US. For those people, I'm wondering... How did you come to find the manga in the first place, and then how can you apprehend what's going on in the manga? Can you read Japanese, get translations, etc.? Yup just wondering...:king

Most people download the scanlated series, if you know nothing about this, go to the manga/anime download section. Some people (of course) can also read Japanese, and buy the imported manga from such places that sell imported manga (not that I have any locally -_-), there are some internet stores, and I will list them if you're actually interested..

That's basically it, sometimes you can find "transcripts" and in this case, it's best to buy the manga then play "read along", this is actually the method I use most, being that it's so much quicker then waiting for a scanlation to come out. It's hard to find a specific series though, so good luck.

But anyway, about the favourite manga thing, this is also a factor:  Different manga is published in different countries.  Not everyone here is North American, so they have stuff available to them in their native language that we don't and vice versa.

Thank you Tetsuo. Yes, I live in France, so we don't have the same manga series released as in the US. For example, City Hunter (best manga ever! ) is completed here, but not yet out in the US.

Heya! Here are stuff we do:

1.) We get scanslated stuff from people who are industrous (sp) enough to scan them and edit them in Photoshop and put in translated text instead of the original Jap/Chi/Kori/Thai/Tagalog/Aboriginal/Indian text. Then they're generous enough to share them... most of the time, for free!

2.) Or we buy licensed stuff!

3.) Or we borrow the said bought licensed stuff!

4.) etc!

5.) We slap n00bs who always ask the same questions... with a creative way of rephrasing them each time!

For me...i live in a pretty Asian area in LA so there are lots of Manga bookstores around...ALOT.  I can think of like 5 within 10 min drive.  The catch is all the manga is in Chinese since they're translated in and imported from Taiwan.

I so WISH i can read Japanese but i can't so Chinese will have to do.  And maybe it's just me but i trust the Chinese translations more than the English ones.  What do u guys think?  

Besides, these Chinese Manga stores sorta rent books so i get a book for 30 cents which is a price i can definitely afford.  Thus i usually grab whatever tha interests me and if i like it then i go check if its been made into an anime and if yes then i go watch it all over again.   oh heaven ~
