Cenvert a harddrive to an MP3 player?

I saw an article a while back wbout how to make just a harddrive into an MP3 player (Of course the connections for the speakers and power) But for the life of me I can't find it, or one like it. (BTW, my real MP3 player was stolen during Thanksgiving dinner >_> so I wanna make a generic one for my car)

you said for your car?  you mean using a hard-drive to plugin to your car and boom, it uses your car stereo system to play music?

i'm very confused on what you are looking for exactly, because i'm sure i can find it if you could be a little more specific in the uses of it.

I remember it took just a regular desktop HD, (no size specified) but the page had a program on it you threw on the HD, all you did was wipe the it, throw the prog on it, it makes a directory for all the songs, and bam.  Then it showed you how to take this thing that plugs into the car lighter and make it so it would play the music through the cars stereo and get power.  I'm still looking for that page, and also have yet to find a page similar or has another way to do this.
