Kazan is published by Comics One.  comicsone.com, I think......
It's about a young, skilled, red-headed desert-warrior named Kazan.  The setting is a Desert country, so the background is pretty much all sand....  Anyway, try finding Comics One's site.  You should be able to find all you need to know there.

yeah, it's in flipped format.  I guess they do a good job, i haven't even seen the japanese version of it yet.

one correction there tetsuo, he's not red head, he's got black hair with a Red hat.  He's the last surviving member of this group called the red sand if i'm not mistaken and he's searching everywhere he can to find his childhood friend elsie, who was kidnapped by this water sorcerer guy.  Then he runs into this girl, who i swear has to be elsie with a memory lapse, and accuses her of kidnapping elsie cause she can use water just like the guy could.  Anyway, its really good.  He has this awesome bird/eagle thing.  

its pretty good... i just need to finish out the series.... ^_^;;;

Oh yeah, I forgot about the eagle.  And I'm not interested in arguing, but all colour pictures of Kazan that I have seen have depicted him as a redhead.
