So, Im a little biased, b/c, like, CCS is my favorite anime of all time and Ive literally watched all 70 episodes 10 times (Ive counted) and Ive been waiting years for there to be more animated Sakura and Li.

So, excuse the fangurl moment ahead:

ZOMFG!!!  I have ****ing gone to heaven.  I didn't have too high of expectations for the anime, but ;___;  THANK YOU NHK.    Despite there being different voice actors, I got used to that very quickly because of the like 50 different references to CCS anime that were subtly put into this anime and all the amazing memories that flooded back to me all at once.  Oh thank you.  Im so ****ing happy.

Just finished episode one...

It was pretty good. There weren't as many "magical girl-isms" as I expected. Granted, the manga bridged the shoujo/shonen genres pretty well, but I thought the anime would cater more to a female audience. The animation was pretty good for television and the characters looked correct. The music was actually the most outstanding part of the show -- I just hope they don't keep reusing the same themes over and over again.

The first episode was a little fast, I thought. Most of the folks watching Tsubasa will probably have seen at least one other CLAMP series, but I think newcomers will have a hard time telling if the characters are actually from different worlds until the end of the episode. They don't do a very thorough job of introducing Fai or Kurogane, either. For Fai this isn't really a big problem -- he doesn't really need an in-depth backstory. I think they seriously undercut Kurogane, though. I doubt if anime viewers really have any idea how much of a bastard he is just by watching this first episode, or why he deserved his punishment. I know that they had to squeeze a bunch of stuff into this first episode to hook people on the show, but I really hope they slow down from here on out. It looks like the second episode is also going to cover a lot of ground, though, so probably not.

That said, I'm definitely going to keep watching. I really like the manga, and I'm very interested to see Subaru, Seishirou, and the X crew animated again.

Hopefully this series will also re-energize discussion in this forum.



Edit: Something was really bugging me about how they showed Kurogane leaving his world and I just remembered... They omitted his curse! I hope they bring it back into the story somehow.

The highlight of the show: I understood about 50% of what was going on from japanese class! *teh yay*

And actually, I loved the music the best about the series. I must say, I'm slightly disappointed with the voices, but I suppose they cannot live up to the reputation of Tange Sakura and the others. The animation seems solid (Sakura looked so pretty~), and it just made me happy seeing one of my favorite SxS couples back in action~. Hopefully, the other SxS will stage an appearance in the anime. ^^ Definately keeping up with this series. I just need to rewatch the episode with subtitles to pick up the things I didn't get the first time around watching it raw.

Episode 3 was alright.  Having Sakura wake up is a little annoying, as the part where Sakura says "who are you?" to Syoaran is one of my favorite parts in the whole manga, and that seems like its going to be screwed up.

Besides that, Im enjoying how its going.  Im glad Sorata and Arashi were introduced, but the lack of puppetry made me sad ;__;

Ok, so they did finally show up? Good. I haven't watched episode 2 yet because I thought they had been cut. If the TB/X characters aren't there it isn't worth watching to me.

I, too, enjoyed the musical score. It has that familiar feeling...

The designs are kinda funky. They remind me of Digimon (which reminds me of Disney/WB charas.) No big deal, tho.

I think I like the premise, altho the preview for ep 2 looks kinda whack.

Oh well. I'll give it a go.
