I'm too tired to retype it all, so I'll quote my LiveJournal.

My Uncle Gregg left with my Mom's Isuzu to go back to Boynton Beach at around 9. My Mom and Aunt Marcia are staying here until tomorrow morning, when they go to get Gregg's Mercedes checked out, since it's acting up.

My Mom called Aunt Barbara a few minutes ago and they talked. Barbara had taken 2 valium and was just about ready to go to sleep. She's been saying to herself that Charlie's dead all day long and that she should start thinking about funeral arrangements. She's called all the hospitals in the tri-state area searching for traces of him, but her efforts were fruitless. I, for one, know as a fact that Uncle Charlie can't be dead. He just can't be, god dammit. Barbara also said she wasn't going to take the house that her and Charlie had bought and planned to move into in November.

But maybe, just maybe, somewhere nearby the disaster area, he's alive . . . with serious or minor injuries maybe, but at least alive and in good hands.

Now I want to be able to trek up to NYC with Mom and Aunt Marcia even more. I want to be able to do something about this. I just don't want to stay here, face going to school tomorrow, and do nothing but cry. I need to comfort others as well. If I could donate blood, I would. If I could help find people in the rubble, I would. But I can't. And I can't even find out if a loved one of mine is alright without others finding out for me.

I hope I can convince my mother into letting me go along with her before she yells at me to get to bed.

*hugs* Best of luck Sam, but remember it's still dangerous here so be careful. They just evacuated the Empire State Building a few hours ago, and I fear there's more to worry about... these fanatics are unpredictable.

Sam, I wish I could help, but the only thing most of us will probably be able to do is wait.

I for one hate feeling that it's the only option.

sam, where do you live? i wish i could help those ppl out there, but school gets in the way so much. i can't even give blood. i really hope they find your uncle.
