While this is true, he said it was impossible, I was merely disputing that. :p  It IS impossible for someone to be as perfect as Takumi is though, he never makes a mistake.  At some point when you are pushing yourself so hard at the very peak of your ability you are going to make a mistake.

I'm sure all hell will break loose when he races his father though.  I haven't read the manga, but I'm betting he will make mistakes because he will try to go beyond his ability and he will record his first official loss.

DrDubbleB, watch episode 2 and tell me if that's possible ^_~
Btw, you can download ep 2 just about anywhere through BT, unless you can't use that for some reason. If you're on irc i might be able to send it to you if BT isn't an option.

I can use bit torrent, I just never had the link that I posted  before.  I'll try to get it, but with such a tiny amount of people seeding it will take a long time for me to get it.  That's why I've been trying to get it on DC++, but that is taking too long as well, so I might as well start downloading it via bit torrent I guess.

Ok I got the episode and watched it.  The theory behind what I think you guys are saying is impossible is actually quite sound.  The only thing that they seem to fail to take into account would be the friction of the changing surfaces.  I can almost guarantee that the surface on the other side of the gutter has less friction than the tarmac.  However one front wheel remained on the assphault, so it is entirely possible.
Is what he did likely?  No, but it is still possible nonetheless. :p

I never said that wasn't possible. I said the sileighty action was impossible, or even Keisuke drifting to aviod that dude in the road. Wait till you see episodes 5 and 6 on the 4th stage, even more things happen that would never happen. To say it's possible, but not likely should be more like 'it's hardly possible and very very very not likely'.

I've seen the rest of the fourth stage, I just hadn't seen episode 2.  I don't understand what is unlikely in 5 or 6 though, the disappearing line does indeed exist, probably the only thing that is once again unlikely is him beating a professional driver that used the grip technique, with a much slower means of going around a corner (in most cases), via drifting.

It's entertaining though, so who cares? :p

I believe that it's technically possible what he did in episode 2, the problem is that in real life the corners don't last that long in that angle, thus sustaining that is impossible. Maybe it would only work for a quick second.

Yeah. Why is what happened in episode 5 and 6 more unlikely than the rest of the series?
Besides, Takumi didn't really beat the Todoh guy as much as it was luck. It was pretty much the same as what happened against Kai in Irohazaka where it was a matter of luck that Takumi didn't have leaves on his lane. A win is a win, yes. But really, Takumi would probably have lost a couple races if it wasn't for luck.
Against the Evo III, it was a game of chicken that decided it too. When he races Bunta it's different, because... well, Bunta is Bunta and he just ownz.

I saw them too on sunday but I didn't like them that much. Maybe it was because I didn't understand everything but I think it's something else as well. These episodes made me realise that the show is suffering due to its format. Because of the once-every-2-months schedule they need to round up the story they wanna tell in 2 eps. In the first six eps the setup was plot outline during the first ep and in the 2nd they would race. And eventhough they had to skip Keisuke's races, the episodes were good every time. This time it really felt like they rushed it. I mean, Keisuke's race was like what, 5 minutes??

Does anybody here agree with me here or am I just crazy :p

Actually I do somewhat agree, but I decided to wait until I see the subbed version to make a judgement since I'm in the same boat as you.
