I'm excited about this news, but I have my concerns:

Quote
What I can say for sure is that there will be no smoking in One Piece-land, as according to Cartoon Network, consumption of alcohol will be missing from the show, and obviously, a lot of the violence and gore will be missing... mI know as soon as I say, “No smoking,” everyone’s mind immediately goes to Sanji and his sucker, and we will be continuing that. The whole reason the sucker is there is that it’s just too much work to repaint everything in the shot to remove the cigarette.

We know we’re going to have to ask for forgiveness on the missing violence and the missing cigarettes, but there’s nothing we can do about that besides not air it on TV at all.

That's bollocks. The ****ing FCC is determined to ruin this show for us. Why One Piece and not Naruto? Oh right, because One Piece is less marketable. And Smoker can keep his cigars, but Sanji cannot keep his cigarette? Pretty pathetic, in my opinion. Just air it at a later time! Bastardo's...

It's good news overall, but I do not intend on buying DVD's that have 4 episodes on them for uncut material I can easily find fansubbed. It's cheap, I know. But I will show my support by watching it on TV.. if they do a decent enough job.

*still feels immensely cheated*

It'll be more than four episodes a disc.

Quote

AO: How will you release the DVDs?
HEISKELL: We know that One Piece is a long, ongoing show, and we’ve learned in the past from fan feedback, forums, conventions, and all the conversations that three to four episodes per disc just won’t cut it for such a long series.

So what we’re going to do is 13 episode releases at $49.98. We haven’t figured out if we’re going to do two or three per year. We just have to see with production and sales whether it’s more beneficial to do two or three a year, but we haven’t decided yet. This is our quickest production, and we have our A-team working on it, and this is top priority so all the wheels are going right now.

13 episodes = $50.00
1 episode = $3.85 per episode.
Seems kind of reasonable, no?
However:
308 episodes (current) * $3.85 = $1,186.00 approx.

:eek

and thats not even counting the time frame-
13 episodes 3 times a year means 39 episodes a year.
308 current episodes would take like 7.8 years to get caught up.

Amazon says movie 8 has been released...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010X8NL4/ref=s9_asin_image_2_newrf_c4-f9_p_c_f_p-qvfp_g1-2785_g1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=0SM7NJ9B2K0S2NSNV6W6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=279438401&pf_rd_i=507846

and Season 1: First Voyage is set for May 27th...
http://www.amazon.com/One-Piece-Season-First-Voyage/dp/B00143XE64/ref=pd_bxgy_d_img_b

I thought someone had said Funmation wasn't going to be starting with the first season, am I wrong?

the description says:
Quote
Uncut, unedited, and featuring an all new FUNimation dub!

2 discs and 312 minutes...  thats 13 episodes (figuring on 24min per episode)

List is $50 but amazon is selling it for $37.

Just a heads up for those interested...
