*Alright, this is one of the many things I promised to type up. Edit it as you see fit, whatever, I'm just being informative.*
Newbie's Guide to Downloading Manga:[/U]
OK, I'm going to make this simple:
Hopefully, this will help people find answers to their scanslation-related questions.
What is this guide?[/U]
The name says it all, this is a guide written for people who need to be shown where to find the right sources for anime/manga. (But in this case, mostly manga.)
So let's go already![/U]
OK, if you're looking for a manga that's available as a scanslation release online, there are two sites you should go to as they are the best online databases for this type of thing.
Noated Majstorsky Comics In my opinion, Noated is the better of these two
by far. The reason being is that it is kept up to date, whereas you can still find
very good information at Majstorsky, but you'll have to look a lot harder, because from my experience at least, most of the links they list are dead. But you never know, you might have better luck than I did, depends on what you are looking for.
Lord Tetsuo's picks:[/U]
These sites are already listed under Noated's manga-search engine, but they are
so amazing that I feel I should give them a little honourable mention.
The Juppon Gatana:[/U]
The Juppon GatanaOK, TJG is not the best
by far, but it's my site, so it's at the top of this list. We're working hard to achieve the greatness of other scanslation sites, and we're the second scanslation site to hold contests. So check us out.
Toriyama's World:[/U]
Toriyama's World This is
the scanslation site. I mean they have a good assortment of manga from one of the best mangakas ever, (Toriyama of course.) But they have a good assortment, period. Although, due to licensing, Naruto (their best release ever. In my opinion.) and Sandland have long since been taken down. I strongly believe this is a good thing, but I feel sorry for all the people who will have to wait
years to get as far in Naruto as I am. Sandland is only one volume though, no biggie. They still have a ton of great manga though.
The Band of the Hawk:[/U]
The Hawks These are the guys who translated Berserk. Words can't describe how awesome these guys are for that. Just recently they have updated their site design, and they are in need of donations. So show your gratitude and help them out. But of course, they also do other great manga. Oh yes, about The Hawks, they release most of their stuff over IRC. But don't panic! I'll write a guide for that too. Eventually....
SnoopyCool[/U]
SnoopyCoolPersonally, I don't like the manga they do as much as those of TW or BoH, or even other sites, but still, they do a great job, Flame of Recca is pretty good, and SnoopyCool's community (their forum.) kicks ass.
MangaScreenr[/U]
MangaScreener I not that in to some of their stuff either, but they still kick ass and Stephen, (one of their translators.) Is a really nice guy who has helped me out before. So, they're here.
Project Omanga[/U]
Project Omanga I love MPD Psycho and Angel Sanctuary. (Although, there are a lot of things I hate about A.S....)
Manga Downloads[/U]
Manga Downloads They're here because they're doing RK from start to finish, in HQ.
Fallen Angel Studios[/U]
Kma is a cool guy who decided he's going to do the Jinchuu arc from Kenshin. He even made his site for two resolutions. (Like Omanga.)
How cool is that? And to state the obvious, he's also one of the mods here at A.N. (He made me plug his site!) just click his sig to reach his site.
Newer sites that need a helping hand....[/U]
OK, I know of a small number of new scanslation groups which most of you will not have heard of yet, but they're unpopular because they haven't done much.... So when they get some stuff done, I'll update this thread and include them in this section.
Conclusion[/U]
OK, you have reached the end of Lord Tetsuo's newbie manga downloading guide. Congratulations! Now apply what you have learned children....
Later.
